beginner needs UPS help

Hi,
New to ZC.

Working with UPS module.
I have looked through the documentation I could find on the setup but cannot figure out how UPS knows who my store is.

For example I have installed and setup the FedEx module and it asks me for my Fedex Account number.

Where do I enter my UPS account number?
If I don't enter it, how does UPS know who I am (or who my store is) when I want to ship?

No expert here but the UPS mod built into zen cart does not need an account number. I don't really know how it bases the rates that return but it seemed to work fine when I tried it. Ihave played around with the XML UPS module in oscommerce and that requires an access key which you can get on the ups website after some playing around. I think there is an xml ups add-on mod for ZC but there is often some difficulty with the add-ons. So use the built in one for simplicity or install an add on and hope it works.

Thanks for the info. Interesting that there is no way to configure it with your UPS account.

I would guess it uses the store zipcode and the shipping zipcode and looks up a generic retail rate. no doubt if you had an account and high volume you could get better rates. I just looked at the shipping modules for zen cart and did not see an xml ups like there is for osc.

There are reasons for everything.

Be aware that if you intend to use the XML module, you need to comply with strict licensing and compliancy requirements from UPS.
