Getting Blank Page On Checkout after editing files with RTF editor

I upgraded and worked out a few things that needed changing to look like previous store.

I attempted to make a purchase to test the site.
I selected an item, clicked checkout, shipping options come up.
Left the default shipping selection as is and clicked on 'Continue Checkout' which should calculate taxes and such, but page comes up blank at this point.

Any ideas what I need to check out to get past this point?

From reading other posts, I am not the only one with this problem.
I tried what others have suggested with no success.
This was an upgrade and I don't want to start all over with a new install.

I checked the payment_checkout file and the new and old are the same size.
That hasn't changed.

Usually a blank page is the result of a bad, missing or otherwise corrupt file ...

To help rule out the template, switch to the Classic Template ...

Other things could cause this, perhaps an URL to your site would help us see the problem ...

What version Zen Cart did you upgrade from?

I tried changing the templates and get the same blank page on both.

Click on continue to goto page with taxes etc.,
At this point I get the blank page:

I upgraded from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8

I switched my site back to 1.3.8, so you can see for yourself.


Something else I noticed is that 1.3.7 and 1.3.8 give different quotes for shipping prices.
