Handling fee not being added - zones module

Hi, my handling fee is not added to the shipping cost and i can't seem for figure out why. I am using zone rates as follows: 2:12.45,5:18.45,10:23.95,20:32.45,30:38.62 and have 6.50 as my handling fee. When I check out a 20.4Kg order I get a shipping cost of 32.95 (and it is there as 32.45). I am not sure what to do except to lump the handling fee in with the shipping price but i would prefer to do it correctly.

Clean install or an Upgrade?

What are your settings in the Shipping/Packaging?

Well, I have decided to absorb the cost into my total shipping price.

Regardless, to answer your question. I am using a clean install of 1.3.7. My settings in the postal module are as follows:

Priority shipping via the Dutch Postal Service (TNT).

Enable Zones Method
True

Calculation Method
Weight

Tax Class
--none--

Tax Basis

Sort Order
0

Skip Countries, use a comma separated list of the two character ISO country codes


Zone 1 Countries
NL,BE,LU,DE

Zone 1 Shipping Table

Zone 1 Handling Fee
0

Zone 2 Countries
DU,FR,IT,AT,SP,GB,SW

There are more zones but this should give you an idea. When I set the Handling fee to say 6.50 it never gets added during checkout. After thinking about it I found that having another "handling fee" on a customers invoice is silly so I just added it to the shipping. Its weird that it doesn't work though.

I believe there is an error that may or may not be affecting you that is fixed in the current Zen Cart v1.3.8a ...

You would want to rename the two files:
/includes/modules/shipping/zone.php to zone.php_137
/includes/modules/shipping/tables.php to tables.php_137

and load the new files from the current version ...

Next, put all your settings into NotePad as they will be lost when you uninstall and reinstall these new modules ...

Now test your shipping ...

NOTE: on Zone Rate and Table Rate if you do not have a definition set on the end you will get $0.00 for shipping ...

Example: you are using:
2:17.45,5:16.45,10:20.95,20:27.95,30:33.26

after 30 lbs it will come up with 0 if you do not add a closing definition ...
2:17.45,5:16.45,10:20.95,20:27.95,1000:33.26

now this will go to 1000 lbs and not run into something less than defined ...

Also check your settings in Shipping/Packaging ...

NOTE: I would plan on upgrading to v1.3.8 but this should fix your issues with Zones or Tables ...

Also note if you have Always Free Shipping or Virtual Products or Downloads on your tests ...

Thanks a lot for the reply, I will upgrade soon...its always a nightmare time wise to do it though but I would like the newest versions.

You touched on another problem I have and thats the closing definition. I keep it open because my shipping packages can't exceed that weight or the package needs to be split in two. So, my customers just get "shipping can not be determined at this time". I would like for them to be split into two packages but haven't found a way to do it yet.

I have been thumbing through the book and found something so i will try that...but it seems tricky.
