Change Width of Main Page

Hi,

I am looking to change the width of my main page so it takes up the whole of the screen or even 95% of the screen, whatever looks the best. Plus I would like to add a right sidebox. http://www.thefashionhut.co.uk

Am I right in thinking I need to change the global settings under Layout Settings? Plus mainwrapper settings in my CSS stylesheet?

Is there an easy way of doing this or should I get my programmer to do this for me?

This is about the easiest customization there is.

You're right, Configuration > Layout Settings > Column Right Status - Global will get your right sidebar displaying.
Then you will want to arrange the boxes with Tools > Layout Boxes Controller.

In your stylesheet, change the #mainWrapper width to 100% or 95% or whatever.

I've made the changes.. Mainwrapper was already set to 100%

Any idea how I get rid of the Bluey background colour in the right sidebox? I also notice the header isn't nudging along to the right.

The right sidebar has no styling beyond the /template_default/ base.
You will want to copy some of the styling that applies to #navColumnOne over to #navColumnTwo, and related elements. Anything with "Left" in it will probably want to be copied to a "Right" version.

Your header is a hardcoded table, so it will take some work to make it stretchy. There are no tags to use in the stylesheet, but all formatting is done in the code. This is obsolete design practice.
