    Default Is my money lost??

    Hi - newb alert

I haven't been able to find this anywhere in 2 days but I thought I had a merchant a/c as I use one solely for business BUT I received a few payments last week via cc (which I've now removed), and DON'T have a 'merchant account'.

Does the money go back to the buyers? (yes I sent off the items)

Or can I wait the 2-3 weeks it's going to take to obtain a 'Merchant a/c' and still maybe be able to obtain the funds.

Or can I use a friend's merchant terminal (not that I received the middle digits anyway which is probably a different issue.

    Or anything else?

    Thanks very much

Well ... since you never collected any money from your customers ... you don't have the money. It isn't "lost" ... you never had it in the first place.

It's too bad you already shipped the goods. Hopefully you can catch them by telephone before the package is delivered, and get them to send payment.

Additionally, your previous post on the same issue has already been answered:

Oh and would they KNOW that their cards were not going to be charged - as they had technically been accepted? Would they get some sort of msg?

Thanks a lot - one was the other side of the world so that might help

The customer would not know that their card hadn't been charged.

However, you could let them know that there was a problem collecting the card number from them and that until you have those middle digits you cannot process the card. And that's why they didn't get any Authorization number confirmation yet.

You could ask them to come back to your site and place the order again using PayPal.
Or just get the middle digits and process the whole charge after you get a merchant account.
