Listing products, description, and img on main page

I only have 6 products, what is the best way to display an image (that is also a link to the product page) and a short description for each on the main page? Sorry for the basic question but I couldnt find what I was looking for.

You could put them all in a Category and then set that Category to always open on the main page as the default ...

Or, you could mark them all as Featured Products and use the Featured Centerbox ...

Or, you could do your own thing with the main page to lay them out ... it really depends on the look that you want ...

Thanks for the reply! If I did my own thing, in what folder do I put the images and how do I call them? Also, how do I make a link to a certain product?
