ahh thats heavy, so u mean i can have different banner configurations depending on what group i choose. so i can have themed banners grouped together, nice. this is certainly better than osc, while i am here. can you confirm for me the downloads of mp3. once i zip up the release and put them in the download section (folder) all i need to do is put the url to the zip file and the shop will then be able to take care of it? it will use that url to find the zipped mp3 once th epayment has been accepted?

OK you got the understanding of banners. Now downloads......got that one wrong....

Downloads get built like any other product.....to start.....then you would set up attributes for the product and in the attributes you would set the filename and download expiration info...in admin>configuration>attribute settings you can enable downloads and some other settings.

i went to admin>configuration>attribute settings but i did not see the sectiob where i can enter the filename of the download. the only place i saw that was when i was entering the details of the file and it asks for url ion "Product in Category:" i was able to enter the url in the section Products URL: (without http://). other than that how will the shop know where the downloadable file is?

You don't set filenames there....thats handled at the attributes controller....go to the following tutorial and read it.....twice...before you start setting up the downloads.

Its easier for you to read it there than for me to explain it. I'm good at downloads being I have a cart with 3174 of them with two versions of downloads per product.
So come back and ask questions once you read and give it a try if you have problems.

i am ok with option 1. then option 2 throws me. in product options my ID is 20, my option name is DOWNLOAD and the option type is RADIO. the id number in product options is not the same as the id number in options value manager. so i am a lil lost as to how i tie the 2 together

in my downloads folder i have 3 items for download bugt i only see 1 item in the product options. there is something i am doing wrong but i dont know what. this tute isnt really helping me. is there a way i can get a step by step from start to finish of how to do 1 product successfully? this tute isnt helping really. for a start i dont know how to link the product options with the options values, secondly the there should be 3 items in the list as there are 3 items in the downloads folder but only 1 appears. not sure why. any help you can give is greatly appreciated

actually you probably should have one option name (Download) and one option value (zipped mp3) and then you would goto the attributes controller and using the dropdown pick the category you want to work with. Then the list of products in that category appear, pick the product you want to work with and click the display button. Now in the adding new attributes section highlight the option name and option value in the lists, if your product is base price only ignore the price/weight section, in the flags section make Default Attribute to be Marked Selected to yes, and finally at the bottom is the place to put the filename and expiration info for the download.......then hit insert.

All of your downloads will use the same option name and value they just have a different filname.......

at the bottom the file name will be in the format of http://www......../shop/download/filename.zip

No, as long as your are putting downloads in the downloads folder the filename only is fine. The logic behind the system knows where they are.
