I am trying to do basically the opposite of this. I am very very new to Zencart but have a customer who we are making a site for.

All is well for the most part. The only remaining request that he has would be to make the category view look like the products all, products new etc.

Is there a simple way to swap out the instructions from this tutorial to do this or is is very different? Willing to learn, just not overly excited about the folder structure of Zencart.

    TIA
    (confuzzled Zencard n00b)

What are you calling "category view"??

A direct link to the page in question removes terminology issues

That is the "product listing" view you want changed to look like the new products layout...

There are instructions in this thread to do this but maybe from different page to another page but the basics are the same

    Hello,

Im thinking of doing this but just wondering if this has been sorted out for the 4.0 release? Because if so, i'll be more than happy to wait.

    All the best...

OK, got most of it sorted... only part eluding me so far is keeping the listings as they should be such as only showing new products in the new product listing and only showing featured, specials etc in their respective listings.. any input would be appreciated

If you follow the instruction closely, the result should be like that

Also, I have succeeded in making the index listing use the same template (and possibly use the product_listing template as well), so yeah, even less time for it now.

I'll post the instruction when I have the time.

    HI YELLOW!

THIS IS GREAT! THE IDEA! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET A TEMPLATE THAT IS NOT CONVENTIONAL.
I didn't try it yet... so, now I'll be starting and I will read the instructions very carefully. I read the entire tread and now I feel confident to do it. Me and PHP are so parallel that even the infinite it seems close.

In maxim 30 minutes I'll tell you [and show you] what I've done.
Until then... this is how it looks:

Let me tell you one thing Mark:

Your problem will not be sorted out that easily. I'm kidding, it's easy but it's a little different.

You see, Zen uses different template files for product listing , new, all, ... pages

And it ALSO uses different template files for product new, special,... on the index page. *_*

So yeah, that's how things are.

I actually coded a module that pull all these listing together into 1 single template only, I just haven't got the time to publish it yet. Will see if I can do it soon this week.

    Regards
