    Default designing boxes

    Hi all,

I am trying to make changes on our website, if you look at a template here templatehelp.com/preset/pr_preview.php?i=14300

you will see they have boxes around the products, i have had a little play witht he stylesheet, and i can only get lines, i suspect this is how i would do this?, am i correct? However, we would not want featured items, so would this work differently, also when somebody goes into one of our categories we would want the same design, is this all done in the stylesheet, and how would i go about this, would it be done with tables? Or am i completely on the wrong wavelength.

We are also looking at adding boxes similar to the ones on the template for the categories, etc.

We also want to add buttons at the top of the page below our logo (or at the side of it) Once we have designed our buttons where would these be placed, is it possible to add html coding for these.

    Thanks in advance

A more correct URL would be this one if we are referring to the same Template. Either way, this is a Templatemonster Theme which is full of errors and other problems. Search this Forum for more on Templatemonster.

If you have already purchased the Template you might be better off to pay someone to take the PSD file, slice it properly and incorporate it into your Zen Cart. Would cost more than what you paid already though, so not sure if that is an option. As to making edits and changes, more difficult to do with a Templatemoster Theme. Some of the HTML errors would first have to be correct before any customizing can be done.

That particular one is an osC template, so I would hope it hasn't already been purchased...

    hi all,

i have not bought the template and do not intend to, we are wanting to create some similar bits of the template. osc2.template-help.com:8081/14300/index.php

We are looking to create the box with the products inside it, similar to the one in the link and round corner boxes on the actual left hand side for categories etc. Also we are looking to add buttons under or at the side of our logo.

The short answer to that is that you will want one or more wrapper divs just inside or outside the box in question, each with a part of the box as a background. It used to be done with tables, but divs can accomplish the task much easier and with smaller, neater code.

Google for "sliding door method" for the standard description of exactly how to do this.

Thanks, thats great, its the thing i was after, but never knew what it was called.

The last thing we need to know is, under the logo we want to add store buttons, once we have designed the buttons where do we place them, and can these be done in html?

Yes, you can create the buttons with HTML, though there are Zen Cart functions and PHP constants that will make the buttons more bulletproof (so they will still work when you transfer the site between a development server and a live server, for example).

Button code for the header area would go in (surprise!) /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_header.php. You can look at the "navigation display" block for examples of how to work in links effectively.
