designing boxes

Hi all,

I am trying to make changes on our website, if you look at a template here templatehelp.com/preset/pr_preview.php?i=14300

you will see they have boxes around the products, i have had a little play witht he stylesheet, and i can only get lines, i suspect this is how i would do this?, am i correct? However, we would not want featured items, so would this work differently, also when somebody goes into one of our categories we would want the same design, is this all done in the stylesheet, and how would i go about this, would it be done with tables? Or am i completely on the wrong wavelength.

We are also looking at adding boxes similar to the ones on the template for the categories, etc.

We also want to add buttons at the top of the page below our logo (or at the side of it) Once we have designed our buttons where would these be placed, is it possible to add html coding for these.
