    help question Can someone define the FedEx module Drop Off Types?

    Hello Good People,

    This may be obvious, but I need some clarification.

    I am using the FedEx Module and I am not sure what the different Drop Off Types are. I would like FedEx to show up at the door after an order has been placed.

    I am pretty sure it should be 1 or 2 but does anyone know for sure?

    Here’s a reminder of the options:

    1 = Regular pickup
    2 = request courier
    3 = drop box
    4 = drop at BSC
    5 = drop at station

    Thank you for any help you can give.

    I'm almost positive sure regular pickup would be used if you have a Fed Ex delivery driver come to your business daily to pick up all packages that have been processed for the day. I think the request courier option is used when you have a third party delivery service (i.e. Acme Delivery, Spee-Dee Delivery) pick up your package and deliver it to the nearest Fed Ex distribution center for you. You should probably call Fed Ex just for verification though. I live about five miles away from my distribution center so I don't use either of these options.

    Hope that helps,
    Brad

I use option 5 and drop off my packages at my distribution center.

    The drop box option is if you want to drop off your package at a drop box similar to a mailbox. You've probably seen them at malls, grocery stores, etc. They're exactly like USPS mailboxes except they're for UPS or FedEx packages.

    I'm not quite sure what a BSC is. I've never heard that term before.
    Hope that helps,
    Brad

    help question Re: Can someone define the FedEx module Drop Off Types?

    Thanks for responding bsteinagel.

    I called FedEx and asked them. I figure options 3, 4 and 5 are pretty self explanatory so I just asked about 1 and 2.

    1 = Regular pickup, is when you have an arrangement with FedEx where they come by everyday. This is something you need to set-up with your FedEx account. Depending on how much business you give them, there may or may not be a fee associated with this.

    2 = request courier, means that you will give them a call and they will stop by. The lady at Support said that this usually generates some number and may be on a packing slip / shipping label. I don't really know for sure. She wasn't up on the latest Zen Cart mods if you know what I mean.

    So....

    Does anyone have any experience using the 2 = request courier option?

    Thanks

    Using option 2, requesting a courier means that you do not have a daily pickup because you ship so rarely. The issue with that is that you will get a $4 PER PACKAGE charge for an oncall pickup. Nothing to do with the website, but you may want to have a daily pickup or just drop off at location to avoid the extra charge per package.
