Default how do I add a credit card fee?

I was wanting to know how to add a credit card fee.

Every time a customer makes a transaction by credit card, I am charged a fee of 1.05%, it's not much but it adds up. I would just like to get some of the money back that I spend on the eftpos machine.

If this has not been done is it possible for someone to work on the credit card module to make it accept fees and add it to the shopping cart, I am hopeless with PHP;), can understand it a little though.

    Thanks for your help.

If you are in the US - You need to read your Merchant agreement. Most prohibit adding a fee to cover your costs.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Thanks, I will check on that.
It's just I have seen other companies also add a surcharge to their credit card transactions.

How I have found companies get around this is by saying the prices on their website reflect a cash discount price - say 3%. Then if you pay by credit card they add 3% to the total because you did not pay by cash.

    wrong,
they up the charge and 3% on all products then give a discount for paying with other than a credit card,
the only thing is that merchant fees are part of the game,
IF your margin is so small that the discount fees are gonna break ya,

you really need to look into 2 things
    getting other higher margin products,
or getting a 9 to 5 and getting out og the game

that might sound mean and nasty and its not meant to be,

    Think of it this way,
merchants charge a fee, this is actually a convenience fee,
its a convenience to you for several reasons,
its much better for impulse buyers,
you dont have to wait for someone to drop the check in the mail,
dont have to hope that usps dosnt lose it or destroy it,
and you dont have to wait for it to clear or worry that it will bounce,

Sorry, but this is pretty much the standard for wholesale suppliers we purchase from in the industry we are in. If you select to pay by credit card you get a 3% (or whatever) added to your total.

Search "lost cash discount" on the web and you will find examples.
