Adding fields to account information

First off, Happy 08 to everyone here and may we all be blessed this year with sales!

Now then, with that out of the way...

We sell both through our zen cart store and also through eBay. One of the confusing issues though is that just matching up emails between eBay and Zen Cart can lead to mistakes and problems. What I want to do is add a field on the account information screen and also new user registration so that the user can enter their eBay ID into the Zen Cart information. That is probably the single most important issue I have right now.

As an additional note to that I wouldn't mind being able to store the auction numbers, winning bid and the ending date in the customers information as well. This way I could see a customers complete purchase history from us. Granted this would require some manual entry of information like the auction number, date and ammount but that is ok with me and at least it would be there for further development potential.

Adding the eBay id to a customers account is fairly easy. You would need to add teh field to the customer_info table, as a VARCHAR(100) field. You then need to add the code to set and return this in the admin, found in the admin/customers.php file. If you want the customer to access or change this, you can then add it to their My Account pages in the store.

As for teh auctions and items they win, I would tend to recommend that you set up a product in the store, with 3 attributes. Price, Auction ID and date. You can then go into their account, and order the items once the auction has completed, and a full list of all transactions would then be available to your customer. If you wanted, you could also ask the eBayer to complete this process for you at the end of the auction, and make payment on checkout. Depends on your store and how far you want to go......
