Grrrrrrrr... this is stumping me. This is the text from the install document that comes with Easy Populate. I have some questions in red bold... if someone could please answer them?

My cart is being set up at solanotees.com/zencart. (You can't see it yet, it's not "live" but it's there.)

1) Change the name of the "admin" directory in this package to suit your zencart installation (Do you mean the directory that is on your hard drive when you unzip the download file?)

2) The temp folder is configured to reside in your store directory. If you store is not in the site root (eg. /mystore/) then the temp directory must also go in this directory. (Does this mean go into my cart folder (/zencart) and then create a new folder named "temp"?)

3) If you want to re-name the uploads (temp) folder, ensure that you configure Easy Populate to reflect this change after installation (I am assuming you are again talking about the folder named "temp" on your hard drive.)

4) Upload all files in their respective directories. (Where do I upload them to? The /zencart folder or the /zencart/temp folder? If not one of those, then I am TOTALLY lost!)

5) Go to Admin -> Tools -> Easy Populate. If prompted to install Easy Populate, click on the link provided.

6) Go to Admin -> Configuration -> Easy Populate, and configure the upload directory if you have changed it from default. Also, ensure that the correct date format is set for your upload files.

IMPORTANT!!!
-------------

** your temp folder must have owner permissions to read/write/execute (chmod 700) for EP to work.
EP now adjusts this for you (unless you have a windows server - ask your host to adjust permissions on this folder for the IIS web server)
** The temp folder has example downloaded files in it. You may wish to delete these before uploading.
** It is recommended that you download a file 1st (WHAT file?) and use this as a template for your uploads (install should do this for you.)
** If for some reason the config install fails, you can upload the SQL file provided using Admin -> Tools -> Install SQL Patches

Sorry I'm being so dull about this, but these directions did not seem very clear to me and I'm of an average to above-average intelligence. HELP!

It is recommended for site security that you change the name of your /admin/ folder to make it harder for hackers to break in. (See the tutorials for more info.)

If you haven't done this, you can ignore #1.

I just installed EZ Populate through my FTP program and it works. The way I did it was by starting at the downloaded ez populate admin folder on my computer and clicking into each folder one by one and adding each file one by one to the same folder on my website. so basically start at #4 of the directions if you have not changed the name of the admin folder on your website. it works fine for me. Good luck!

Most mods (probably including EZ Populate) are already set up with the files in the correct folder structure, so all you need to do is FTP the whole /includes/ folder (and the
/admin/includes/ folder if there is one) to the root of your store. All the files will automatically drop into the correct places. There should be instructions in the readme file if there is anything special you need to do.

Hi I am completely new to Zen Cart and I know that this is a little too late looking at the dates the first questions were answered on this subject.

Well I am completely confused with the details on installing Easy Populate. I have tried installing it in various sections on my web with no joy.
I Have read and do not understand the install directions.

I have downloaded a FTP programme but I am not sure what file to upload to.

I have tried uploading it to "admin" still not working, I would like info from anyone if possible.

I contacted my host and he just says that he cannot help as it would do him out of a job.

Thanks in Advance Andrew

Andrew...

If you don't know what FTP means, then you will struggle with just about every other aspect of content-based website management.

This is not a forum for teaching people the basics of website management, so you'll have to try places like:

www.w3schools.com

Get up to speed on the basics, and ZC (indeed any content-management software) is much easier.

Hi All,

I am quoting this post in its entirety because I have not seen an answer to it and this is the same information I need. Although I spent many years as a computer systems consultant, that was over 20 years ago and the terms have changed so that I am as lost as a complete new-be. I would really like to see these questions answered.
