Default New 1.3.8a test install, migrating 1.3.7.1 template changes

I obviously did something wacky, but I think I got all of the changes I needed to, so it's probably something silly and simple that I missed. I'm looking at my 1.3.7.1 front page in one IE7 browser tab and my test 1.3.8a tab in another, so browser differences do not come into play in this case.

The 1.3.8a window is still showing three columns even though it is a two column design

When I use the IE Developer Toolbar to start debug, right off the bat I'm seeing a difference that I'm not familiar enough with the ZC code to figure out:
In the 1.3.8a window the body tag has id=productinfoBody
In the 1.3.7.1 window, the body tag has id=indexHomeBody
... this is the main index page, so the 1.3.7.1 tag sounds more appropriate, but I can't figure out what I did to get the productinfoBody tag to be incorrectly applied.

    Any guidance??
    TIA Karen

    Yeah, something is funky.

Both versions use the "id=indexHomeBody" for the Body tag on the Home page.

Are you using a custom or default Template and/or for which version.
Can you share the URL to the sites?

It's a custom template that I'm trying to migrate which is undoubtedly where I introduced the wacko behavior! Before I changed templates, it looked like it should on the default template, so this is something related to the changes I migrated in the template itself. The Developers Tool Kit in admin didn't help me find an occurrence of the two different ids, so I wasn't able to isolate the files I might have goofed up that way. Unfortunately, the migration is on a local server under xampp, so I can't give you a URL. I'm running a Windows search right now to try and locate the two different id's, I was just hoping maybe somebody recognized how the two id's get set. I probably missed a comment delimeter or something stupid like that!

I just did a search in the Tool Kit for "body id=" and found that tpl_main_page came up. I'm gonna go look there, it must have something to do with an error I made there. Does anyone know where the "$body_id" variable gets set or how to determine the value that it has?

    Thanks, Karen

When setting up a custom Template for the first time and after switching to it, one must use the: Admin > Tools > Layout Boxes Controller and click the "Reset" button at page bottom.

This will realign things in your new Template and can start customizing it.

The "$body_id" variable is set according to which page is being displayed.

Nevermind... for now... looking at the tpl_main_page.php for clues was the ticket... for now!

It looks like all the editing I did yesterday may have accidentally been saved in the wrong place, so the changes didn't all make it into the 1.3.8a folder.
(well, I could use a bonehead smiley, but this'll have to do!)

I'll have to go back through my whole checklist and see which files didn't get to the right place. Ugh!

Thanks for your quick response anyway, Rob! Karen

Fortunately, the extent of my goof-up was limited to tpl_main_page.php and I have it fixed now and oddly enough, it looks normal now?!?! Who'd a thunk it!!

Now that things are looking as they should, I also discovered the bonehead thing I did to cause the different body id tags... In the one window, I was actually browsing a product page, NOT looking at the home page like I thought I was. Give me a few whacks with a DUH! board, I clearly deserve it! TGIF!
