500 Internal Error

Hi, I have just installed zen cart for the first time on a linux server, the Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™ page loads but when I click install I receive Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

The log file says directory index forbidden by rule
as well as premature end of script headers htdocs/cgi-bin/jmail.asp

any help please.

I started getting the 500 Internal Server Error this morning. My site has been functional for months now (although hidden from the public). I was about to go live with it today... Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why this is happening? I did not change anything on the store since I checked on Friday night.

Same answer. 500 errors are the result of server-side configuration rules being violated by something. Your hosting company is the one who selects the rules. So, it's them who must tell you what rules you're breaking in order for you to know what needs fixing.

Thanks...I think I was writing my post while yours went up. I did contact them...they haven't written back yet, but it seems to have resolved itself. I guess they did something... oh well, as long as it works.
