Admin settings are contained in the DB and why you need the user & pass from the DB that you imported, Also products, customers and orders among other things are in the DB.

If you did not want this why did you import the DB in the first place?

You must have had some reason

    thank you for the help
I didn't know how to see my post (i though i will get notification about your reply to email - but I didn't) we try to build several similar websites - 70-80% similar - so I though that this would be easiest way to copy database to new zencart containing common basis for all websites and then to apply changes to each site separately. could you please tell me if there is a better way to do it?
    thank you

I think that building a generic version of the cart and then duplicating that to create other carts is a great idea.

I suggest creating a duplicate database that will act as the generic version. Clear the database tables (like the customer info and orders) as necessary and use that database to create the additional sites. You'll just have to remember that the password will always be the same and that you'll have to change it later.

What Kobra was asking was why you were "surprised" that the information from the old database was in the duplicate version since you should have expected that when you duplicated the database.

I guess I will have to clean some tables within database to create generic database (with clear orders, users etc info) , right?

Yes, you'll have to clear some of the tables in the database to get rid of order and customer information. I have duplicated databases in the past, but to create test sites for existing stores, so I didn't clear any of the information.
