I've compiled a few guides on how to modify your Zen Cart HTML emails for those in need of some help: mooxmail.com

It's not 100% complete yet, but there should be enough information there to answer a good few of your queries. If something doesn't make sense, let me know via this thread and I'll try to remedy it.

So far on the site I've...

  • tried to explain how to design an email (although this section could do with some graphics)
  • mentioned a few HTML tips used when coding emails.
  • listed the 15 email templates and explained where they're used.
  • showed how to modify a few files to improve the layout of the order confirmation email and control the colour of all hyperlinks.
  • created a test list for you to use if you decide to recode your templates.
