Default Language

Hi, I'm having troubles with the default language, I cannot change it even if I pick a different one as default it always shows English. I tried deleting English language but then the store is broken and doesn't show the products neither some content but still shows the text in English?????
I have set different languages to choose (eng, sp, de, it, pt) and it works fine but is the default one that is always english and I need it in spanish.

Zen Cart does not perform a translation function try getting the Language Pack for Spanish and install it

Thanks kobra, maybe I didn't explained it well. I do have the language packs (italian, spanish and so on) the problem that I have is that I want the spanish language as default so when people open the site the first language pack will be the spanish then they can just choose whatever else they want from the languages side box.

admin > localization > languages > select Spanish > select edit > and set as default

I have the spanish language pack installed and working even selected as default but for some weird reason it always shows English instead of spanish.... that is my problem.

I don't know if I have broken the code so the default language can be changed but I don't know where to look, could someone point me where could I check or how the default language works to see if the problem is because a broken code.

Look to any files you have altered.

I had the same problem yesterday, thinking I messed up my translation. I was doing a fresh installation of the zencart 1.3.8 to test my new translation pack.

Despite "french" was written as the default language, english was used everywhere. I tested the norvegian pack, same result.

Today, when I woke up to continue my work, my site was in french !

So, after some tests, I discovered that language preference seems to be saved into the cookie. You have to clear your cookie to see the new default language (or wait for the cookie to be marked as invalid).

Thanks Megaman, I tried deleting the cookies but english remains..... seems that the default language is affected by the browser language. I installed FF in french and now the site starts in french.

For Future Reference... I had the "Language Selector" in Configuration>My Store , set to "Browser"
