Or, you can customize the sideboxes by copying them to your templates and override directories and customizing the code ...

Sideboxes are in two parts and you will find them in:
/includes/modules/sideboxes
/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes

You would copy them to:
/includes/modules/sideboxes/your_template_dir
/includes/templates/your_template_dir/sideboxes
