Default Shipping

I had this in general questions but no replies, maybe it was the wrong section and this could be better. It seems it should be relatively simple....but what would I know :-)

I have a slight problem in that offer free shipping for digital and $5 for postage. The problem is that that the free shipping isd coming pre selected as the default shipping and alot of people dont change it to the $5 and therefor I do not receive the postage amount. Can anyone tell me where to change this default selection, or how to not have either as default but require a selection.

Your digital stuff should automatically be free if you have it set up right and then the $5 should only show if you have a physical product in your cart.

Suggest double checking your digi goods set up.

OK obviously I have not set something, I just went and looked and I just have free shipping set up as the Flat Rate for 0.00.
I have the digital choice as an attribute but didnt select something saying it was digital, just wrote in digital.

So I take it the attribute for digital delivery is a different one from the norm and will connect up with one of the free shipping options ??

Hi, Can anyone help please with setting up an attribute that automatically defaults to a FREE SHIPPING module. All the info I find is to do with having a product to download, I will be emailing the product, but I think this may have alot to do with registering free shipping.

1 You have Downloads on the Product Attribute that makes it Free as no shipping is required ...

2 You have Product is Virtual which is automatically Free Shipping but is NOT used for Downloads ...

3 You have Always Free Shipping on the Product which makes the Product Free Shipping ... but is NOT uses for Downloads ...

4 You have 0 weight where 0 weight is defined as Free Shipping in the Shipping/Packaging ...


Be aware ...

In the first method it will skip the checkout_shipping on its own ...

In the second method it will skip the checkout_shipping on its own ...

In the third and fourth methods you need to install the Free Shipping freeshipper Shipping Module as these Products do NOT skip the checkout_shipping but need a method to allow the customer to checkout and validate a shipping method on the checkout_shipping page ...

OK, well I have photos of varying sizes, so I have attributes giving the choices of these sizes as well as digital delivery which has free delivery (not automatic).

So refering to you list

1. No Good as I dont have a download.
2. Virtual no good as it not only digital, can be a hard copy of a photo. as with 3.

I might give 4 a go on attributes, I saw free shipping when product is free but havent seen this one with weight.

Any other ideas that wil suit.

How do I change my default shipping? I have a cheaper option that is for patterns only and have a lot of people ordering things other than patterns and using that shipping option because it's the default selected.
