    Default Bin Numbers

    Hi Guys

I did a search for Bin Numbers (the location where the stock lives is in the warehouse) and I couldn't find anything other than a reference to "Super Orders" having all sorts of functionality ( which seems fab BTW) but having read the readme.txt file in the download I don't think it handles Bin Numbers.

All I am after is a number to be associated to each stock item, and the BIN NUMBER is printed on the picking slip.

ie. Bin number 1 widget's large qty 6
ie. Bin number 31 sprockets small qty 6

so you just go to bin 31 and pull out 6 etc.

It seems so simple I have probably missed something.

Does anyone know how to achieve this simply.

    Thanks Vince

You may have to add additional field for that purpose. If you are not using model, you can use it for that purpose though.

Thanks for your help yellow1912, its much appreciated. Unfortunatly I'm using "model" already.

I'm not sure where in the code I should be adding another field, that will print the products "Bin Number" on the picking slip.

It would really be very useful to have a Bin Number, as I have over 300 items that all look the same at first glance, all with 6 digit model numbers. A simple Bin Number 1- 300 would assist the picker greatly.

Does anyone know of a mod that adds a field, that I could use as a "bin number" which most importantly also prints out the "bin number" the on a picking slip.

    Anyone any Ideas ?

You can customize your model number like this:
say if product A has current model number: ABC12
    Bin is 19
Now you can change model to ABC12-19, no one other than you will understand what that means, and your customers wont even care.
But yeah, the best way is to add a new field.

Thanks yellow1912 for your suggestion of adding the Bin Number as a prefix to the model number. (123) - 809A7C. BIN - Model

I'll do that, but as you say - Ideally it should be a separate filed of its own.

I must admit I am quite surprised that Bin Numbers aren't catered for in Zen cart - ( built in or via a mod) I was wondering how others using zen cart manage to pick their stock without a Bin Number other than wasting time looking around the shelves trying to match up model numbers (which in my case has numbers and letters and is difficult to put in numerical order) ?

If anyone knows of a mod that inserts an extra filed that I could use as a Bin Number then I'd really appreciate it if you could point me to it.

Again thanks yellow1912 for your suggestion work a work around

    Vince
