How can this be?

Hello guys, I've been working on my store and finally moved it online under Maintenance mode true. When I want to see a change or something I will take it off mantenance and as soon as I do and check the page "who's on line" shows 1 guest, within 3 minutes, the list jumps to 10 and then 15. Since I don't have to leave it on, I immediately take it back to maintenance mode.

I noticed this everytime I take it off that mod. However, the main website if not even online yet, how can this be? Are "bots" so quickly and always searching or do they have like a memory and target a site and just wait and wait? <G>

Just want to make sure this is normal and not to worry about any hacks attempts before we go online for real. :)

Not sure why you posted in the "Hack Attempts" Forum as no hacking appears to be taking place.

In order to see Who's Online you can check:
Admin > Tools > Who's Online

You also might have a Last Visitors feature in your Control Panel, if you use cPanel for example.

Note: just because you have your site in Maintainence mode or otherwise think it is offline, Search Bots along with other Bots will still visit/index your page(s).

why not leave it in maintenance mode and set "Down For Maintenance (exclude this IP-Address)" to your ip address. That way you can see the whole site while everyone else just sees the down for maintenance pge.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Sorry I posted in the wrong place. Just got a little paranoid. Barco, thanks for the tip, I'm learning something new evey hour. :)
