Notepad++ and PHP code errors

I hope somebody with Notepad++ experience can help. I edited the email messages and experienced problems using Notepad++ with word wrap enabled. I think some extra code ended up in the file that gave me errors when uploaded. I got frustrated and started over again with TopStyle. Now it works. Don't know if I had some settings wrong.

Did anybody else have problems with word wrap enabled? Is this not recommended? I know it is not Zencarts fault but maybe this info can profit somebody else with limited editing knowledge.

First I thought it was me missing some code but I then saw in topstyle that some extra space and line brakes were added. Don't know if this could matter for the function of the php code?

Unix and Windows have different expectations for CR and LF. Although I'm not a Mac person I understand that they're different again.

Depending on what your server is on, and what you're running Notepad++ on, you'll need to make sure the settings in Notepad++ are correct.

Yes - I got caught out at first, but realised what was going on and made the necessary adjustments.

Pc is win xp server is Linux Apache and so forth...

I guess I have to make the right settings under Format menu.

What do you set encoding on ASCI or UTF-8 and should I choose to convert to UNIX format?

I've used regular old Notepad (RON?) to edit Zencart files for years without any of the problems I've read about on the forum.

One trick that works for me is - if you open a file in Notepad, and it seems garbled (usually all the text jammed together), open the file in Wordpad, then save as a .txt file. Should open OK in Notepad after that.
