uncommon email address issue

i have a client with an uncommon email address format - [email protected] (i used x characters to protect her privacy). she is unable to create a new client login. is there something i can change in admin that would help her?

On a demo site I have (ZC 1.3.8a), I created an account with a bogus mail addy with the .au sufix and got this

Your Account Has Been Created!

What are your settings for admin > config > email options >
Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS
Emails must send from known domain?

What version of Zen Cart is this?

i am using 1.3.7.

verify dns is false
known format is no

I get the states pull down error with any mail addy

Try setting admin> config > Customer Details > State - Always display as pulldown? > false for a check if this is also the error you see
