File upload not uploading

Hi All

Im new to zen cart and im having dificulties with a file upload. ive added two atributes ( a text box and file upload) to the one product in my store. I select the product the selct a file (Face.jpg 1mb) and enter text into the text box (happy Birthday). add the product to cart and check out.
The order is processed ok and the emails are sent with the text (happy birthday) included but there is no file (face,jpg) in the \shop\images\uploaded
directory.
Is there anything ive missed?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

do i need to change the permission for the upload folder (chmod) ?

The directory /images/uploads needs to be 777 ...
