Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Hi yellow1912,

I used to have the same problem as planatgenet reset alias cache and reset all cache solve the problem but I had another problem that if I enable "Set default language identifier" it rewrite over and over and firefox stop the connection and my url look like this www.mydomain.com/fr/fr/fr/my-cat/my-product

I try your solution with local.config.php doesn't work at all, so I've modified the code of config.php in the language array
now it's look like this

        'languages'             =>      array(  'default'       =>      'default',
                                                                'en'            =>      'default',
                                                                                'fr'            =>              'fr') 

and it's works fine, the only problem is for the home link, the default language of my zen is in french and when I click on english, the same page became in english for now everything normal but if I click on "Home" it go back to the french welcome page and not to the english one.
I think it's just something to modify but what that is the question...
Here my configuration
Zen:1.3.8a
SSU:Beta 3.6.7


And here my replace characters with a lot of characters for lazy people like me

I know not every characters are there but it's a good start I think

thanks for the help. Yes I have enabled the local.config.php and the code is the same - I think it must be working as I can make the "es.php" transliterate from any standard letters to any other letters, just not the accented spanish ones which get ignored and replaced by hyphens.

Thanks neodolphin, every time I change something I reset all the caches just to make sure - interesting you had the same problem but reseting the caches didn't work for me, unfortunately.

Just to show an example, the english links are correct:
/en/ecological-jute-bags-c-13

the spanish should be:
/es/bolsos-yute-ecológicos-c-13

but it comes out as:
/es/bolsos-yute-ecol-gicos-c-13

Not sure if this is important but the "es.php" uses "$cyrillic = array" like the "ru.php". Whereas the "fr.php" uses its own "$french = array".

Anything else you can think of that I should check?

Hello all -

I'm having some trouble getting this to work.

I tried installing the latest version, but ran into errors that were apparently due to a php5 vs. php4 problem. I installed the php4 version over the php5 version and those errors went away.

However, when I enable the SSU, my website won't work. The main page loads fine, but when I click on a category, contact us, etc., I get a 404 page from my hosting company. The address bar shows the simple URL, but I get the 404. As soon as I disable, it works again. I tried doing the clear cache thing after I enabled but it didn't work. I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting this . . . any suggestions?

This same thing happened when I tried (I believe it was) the Ultimate URL dealy, which is what led me to try this package.

Hi everybody.
I'm using the last version of Zencart (1.3.8a) with SSU plugin (version 3.5.8) and I need to cut the URLs generated by the plugin 'cause products description are too long.
The idea is to cut the urls after the first dot in the description.

For example...
The description is:

Cintura in cuoio lavorata con rivetti e fibbia in goldtone invecchiata.
Presenta il fusto liscio in tre pezzi , cuciti tra loro da rivetti.
Il sostegno della fibbia anch’ esso nella stessa pelle della cintura è fissato a vite dando così la possibilità di una regolazione precisa.

Scheda Tecnica :
Materiale : cuoio
Metalleria : fibbia goldtone invecchiata / rivetti
Colore modello foto : xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Peso : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Larghezza : 4 cm
Lunghezza : XXXXXXXXXXX

The url contains ALL this description.
I need to make visible only "Cintura in cuoio lavorata con rivetti e fibbia in goldtone invecchiata."

Anyone of us knows how to do?

1. 3.5.8 is rather old, please upgrade (link in my sig)
2. SSU does not use description in producing links, it uses NAMEs.
And you can change admin->configuratin->ssu settings to set the max length or max number of words.

Concerning use of names instead of description I realized that if the product description is

"Cintura in cuoio lavorata con rivetti e fibbia in goldtone invecchiata.

the product's url becomes

"http://localhost/.../cinture-cuoio-c-65_66/cintura-in-cuoio-lavorata-con-rivetti-e-fibbia-in-goldtone-invecchiata-br-presenta-il-fusto-liscio-in-tre-pezzi-cuciti-tra-loro-da-rivetti-br-il-sostegno-della-fibbia-anch-esso-nella-stessa-pelle-della-cintura-fissato-a-vite-dando-cos-la-possibilit-di-una-regolazione-precisa-p-180"

I really dont think it uses description. I would recommend upgrading first though, your version is old.

Filter Options: T-shirts, Jeans, Jackets

If I select T-Shirts I get a URL like : /paul-smith?sort=20a&filter_id=42

I have tried adding an alias in SSU so that /paul-smith?sort=20a&filter_id=42 becomes /paul-smith-tshirts but SSU ignores it - does this mean I cannot use aliases for this?

If you use the latest versions (version 3.5 and up) you will see that SSU can automatically create such aliases for you.
Assuming that you read the installation and usage note carefully, you should know that you should turn on SSU Auto Alias in the setting in admin/configuration/simple_seo_url to have that feature enabled for you. After you enabled it clear the cache in admin/extras/simple_seo_url_manger. This should fix it the way you want it to look.
