Shipping to UK only

Hi,

We want to ship to UK only and am trying methods to be able to do this without having to delete the other counties as in 6 months time we will deliver non uk.

I have tried to define a new zone X and add the UK to it however when i do this the status remains at amber? Is this because UK zones are not defined? which makes no difference to in terms of trade as i would treat all areas the same within uk.

Also when a customers gives the address is there anyway of restricting this to just the countries i would like to sell to instead of all 238 counties being displayed?

I have the Zen Cart book but i cant seem to get this fixed - Any help would be welcomed

Yes, it remains Red/Amber because you haven't Defined the "zone(s)" yet...

Here is what you would do to set up shipping zones (same steps are required for Payment Zones & Tax Zones):

Admin >> Locations / Taxes >> Zones Definitions

Click on "Insert" and create a new zone something like "UK" as the Zone Name, and something like UK Shipping as the "Zone Description"... You will want to name it (Zone Name) something easy to identify as being your shipping zone.

With the new zone created you will click on "Details" (with the new zone highlighted)... and click on "edit" on the new screen. In the edit section you will select the UK, and hit "Update"; repeat for what ever other country you'd like to include then select the "Zone" for that country (UK doesn't have zones, but some countries and territories do). The dot will be an yellow color telling you have you have not set up a "Tax" for that zone yet (Red = Not Configured, Yellow = Zones Defined but not Taxed, Red/Amber = Not Configured).

Then you will go to: Admin >> Modules >> Shipping >> your_Shipping_Module

Edit your shipping module (setting up your shipping details as needed per the module requirements), and towards the bottom (of almost all shipping modules) you'll find "Shipping Zone" click the drop down arrow, and select the newly created zone in this example it will show up as "UK" highlight it, and click "update" to update your shipping module.

The Shipping Module will now have a "Yellow" dot next to it (instead of Red/Amber or Green) this indicates that that shipping module will only allow a customer from a set zone to choose that method for shipping (meaning anyone can buy, but they can only have it shipped to an address within the set zone... so if a customer in Germany or USA wants to buy an item for a friend in the UK they can buy it and ship it straight to their friend in the UK)...

If you do not wish to allow other countries to purchase for shipment to the UK you will need to set up a "Payment Zone" using the same method (and zone) in: Admin >> Modules >> Payment ... and editing your Payment Module to only allow payments from the set zone... the same way you did for the shipping module above.
