Can I use my new CSS codes?

Someone did some rewording on my site and as soon as I put the new code in (CSS code), my home page went blank. I don't know what happened....I tried to delete it but my save delete and cancel buttons were no longer showing. She had to get assistance the the person was able to fix my home page. She said that she won't be able to use CSS coding for me since it was zen cart. Is this true? if not, why would that happen and how can I keep that from happening again?

She can't be that experienced (with CSS) if she is using CSS and making your page disappear. Of course you can code with CSS for your Zen Cart, in fact you can do a ton of stuff with the style sheets, but lack of knowledge about what your doing could cause some funky goof ups.

The way to keep this from happening again is to learn more about the style sheets and how to use them by reading the help section of this site, posting for help on a particular CSS question, and if your hiring someone, make sure they are studied up enough on CSS to make it work good for you.

I'm with Yellow1912. I'd wonder about her CSS skills as well. You might want to take a stab at it yourself.

Thanks for the info. I still don't know how she got my site back to order...I will have to ask. So if you put in a wrong code, it can screw up your page like that? Maybe I should ask you all. IF this happens to me again...especially since I will be doing my own stuff...how would I be able to get my page back and refresh the define page editor so that my buttons are working..well showing again?

In different instances, to get your page back may require a particular fix, that can not be generally described here. The style sheet has a lot of items in it, that if coded in the wrong wrong way, could make the page not display. Don't fear though, most edits to the style sheet will not make the page disappear, most that usually happens is that some looks a little screwed up. If you start editing the php code and have no idea what your doing, that could make the page dissapear very easily.

As far as the images in your admin section go, the only thing I can think of that would make the images disappear would be if there was some messing around in the admin section being done. You may need to download the same version of Zen Cart that you are using and upload all the admin section again. I say 'all the admin section' because if some is missing, there may be other parts missing. Some may have just made the buttons disappear using the admin style sheet, or may have deleted the images.

If your still pretty new at Zen Cart and FileZilla, you may want to wait a little bit (to upgrade) if you haven't already upgraded to zencart_1.3.8. Or have someone guide you along in the upgrade via instant message, so it would go fairly quick.

no I haven't upgraded. I see the button when in admin but too afraid to touch it. I was told that I could do the wrong thing and delete my whole site. I definitely can't do that....I just had someone set me up...make me live and I have been doing everything else. I am still reading posts and I am hoping soon I will be confident enough to upgrade or even add some additions to my version such as Recover cart sales, about us page, and even the one that lets you rename the pages.

hmm... cant think of why you have missing buttons in the Define Pages Editor area. Perhaps you could work without them for now though, if that space where you can enter and edit text comes up, you might be able to edit the text, and hit Enter on your keyboard, and that might perform the submit.

Otherwise the way to edit those define pages files, is to go into the directory where they are located, and open them with a good HTML Editor (WeBuilder 2007 is the Best - Hands Down)

The files themselves are located at: includes/languages/english/html_includes
If edit them from there, you would actually need to save your changes into:
includes/languages/english/html_includes/Your_Template_Name
