Default Two Logins needed-main and at checkout

I need two logins. The one from the main page as shown in the template is good. I need a second login at checkout which I use as a payment method selection page. ie. Check out without account, create account, use paypal express, login. I am able to get the proper contents of the page showing and in a reasonable order but the page header is the same as the login page and is confusing to the customers who wish to check out, not necessarily login.

Either a second page or a second heading would work.

    Thanks.

After looking at it further, I believe a second separate page would work better than a second header.

It's really not clear to me what you're trying to do. If the customer doesn't log in, how will you know who ordered the merchandise?

I agree that it is confusing for customers. Why Zen Cart uses the same page for login as it does for the start of the checkout is bit of a mystery. I believe the whole checkout process is due for a re-write in the future. It is somewhere on the roadmap but I can't remember where at the moment.

The Checkout Amazon Style mod I created (link in my signature) might be of use to you. It doesn't work with the Checkout Without Account mod but I have found that using the Amazon style checkout pages negates the need for a Checkout Without Account option. Even if you don't want to go with the Amazon style checkout the mod demonstrates how to create a separate login page for the checkout.

    Regards,
    Christian.

In regard to the post by Mary Ellen, I have the Checkout Without an Account add-on installed. The account is actually created in the background and the information is collected from the shipping and payment information.

Many of my customer group are independent and private in nature. If a log-in is required, they would abandon the cart. Also, many people, including me, are tired of keeping track of all the log-in names and passwords that accumulate.

I have a main page side bar log-in if a person wishes to log-in or create an account. I want the checkout log-in page to be more of a checkout method index ie.

    Checkout without an account
    Use PayPal Express
    Log-In
    Create an account

With each link going to the appropriate page, not being redirected to the checkout log-in page.

It is a way to keep from losing a customer and get the required information.

    I hope this helps.
