Problems - can't edit lang file

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this.

My site was working fine on my own PC using xampp. When I needed to amend things like contact us page it was all in notepad.

I hosted the site recently and had 2 problems. The store was lost somewhere when I first uploaded it. I had saved it on disc so the second time I uploaded , with the help of the host company, it was fine.

At first I had threat errors off AVG when trying to log into my newly hosted store. This do not happen now I am using firefox.

The problem now is

1. I do not seem to be able to get into the store on my computer using xampp.
2. When I try to amend files like contact us at includes/languages/english/html-includeds/classic/define_contact_us.php

The contact_us.php part is no longer there but is replaced with something called microsoft-picture it.

Can anyone help.

I believe that the reason that you are not getting responses to this is because people don't understand what the problem is. Please remember that you have seen it and experienced it, but we haven't. So what makes perfect sense to you, is to us like a very sparse collection of jigsaw pieces, most of which are missing with no box to show what it's supposed to look like. Indeed from your description I can't even work out whether the problem is on your local PC or your public site.

Here's what I suggest you do. Take a deep breath and start again. If the problem is on your public site post a link to it, so we can see the problem. If it's not, post the link anyway and then tell us how your local xampp version is working (or not working) differently.

Where you're getting errors or warnings, give us the full text.

Where you take actions and they fail, tell us what the actions were.

Caffeine often helps too.
