    Default AustPost Improved Newb Query

Having a few issues that are doing my head in. Hoping for one of those obvious solutions that makes me seem a fool :)

    Austpost 2.01
    Zencart 1.37

    My issue is weight.

I have set Austpost to work in gms.

I have changed my products to grams, and it was massively misquoting my overseas orders to something like $600 for a 300g parcel (360mm x 360mm x 10mm) on standard Air 10 day delivery.

I then set it to kilograms and changed my products weight to kilograms and it behaved in a simiar manner. I prefered to work in grams, So I changed to back and all my product weight values.

My issues is, I currently have it semi-functioning because I have changed it back to grams, yet used weight values significantly lower than the products actual physical weight.

So for a 300g product I have set the weight value to 10. And it returns a very comparable postage price to that I've manually tested with on http://drc.edeliver.com.au/

None of the original Zencart or Austpost scripts have been modified by me.

    Hi J.Ophiuchus,

    > My issue is weight.

I'm going to take a punt and suggest that you have probably left your tare weights at the default values (this is a function of zencart, and not the autpost module).

Tare weights can be set by going to configuration/shipping&packaging.

The tare weights *I* use are 0:40 & 0:200 (my products are weighted in gms).

    Cheers

I really like the latest version of the improved AustPost shipping module, however a feauture that is missing and was in the original AusPost module was that the total or shipping weight was also printed out on the invoice and on the shipping checkout page.
Is it possible to have a patch for this? Thanks Rod for the improvements.

    Thank you.

Hi, have set up the module but am concerned about the weight units.
My site keeps quoting that the units it is using are lbs and I cannot see where to turn this to be grams, which I want.
I have read that the site itself does not use weight units, but why does it insist on displaying lbs when referring to weight values?
I have set the Austpost module to use Grams, but when I fill out an order the thing says lbs still, can someone please tell me where to tell the site to work in grams, or display the weight as grams not lbs at least, I have scoured the admin menus and cannot see this anywhere.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

Also wondering if the postage rates in the module are calculated differently by state and area, based upon customers mailing postcode, or if they are flat rates based on the parcel type? The only reason I ask is because of the reference to "Servers" such as austpost.vcsweb.com, which I assume you guys keep up-to-date via refering to drc.edeliver.com.au?
If so, does this mean that my delivery rates are being calculated for me "LIVE", and those charges the module calculates will always reflect Aust Post's latest rates?
    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi,

This 'feature' isn't missing from the latest versions on account of the fact that it has never been a function of the shipping module in the first place. It is, and always has been a part of the core code.
If it isn't working for you check your admin config settings.

    Cheers

Please read the text file SERVERS.TXT that comes with the australia post module.

All quotes are calculated 'live', but different aspects of the calculations require that two different servers be used for different purposes.

    The servers.txt file explains all.

    Hi Rod,
thanks for the reply and more the AustPost Improved module.

Perhaps I was not completely clear when explain my problem. The auspost module displays the shipping weight and number of boxes etc on the shipping checkout page as follows:

    AusPOST Parcel Post
Delivery to 4701 - 5 days Estimated Delivery Time*
    1 boxes 0.375kg(s)
    $1.30 insurance

For the AustPost improved the same is displayed as:
    "image"7 days "image" - Incl $2.10 Registered. $7.30
    "image"2 days "image" - Incl $0.00 P&H. $12.50

The stock picker/packer does not get to see the total shipping weight on this page or on the invoice unlike for the auspost module. I am thinking that there must be a few lines of code that can be inserted that will get the weight displayed on the shipping checlout page and the invoice.

    Thank you.

    Hi mark168

    It does too.

I'm getting these details on my pages.
As I said, this is not a function of the shipping modules. It is another setting under the admin/config options.
