help question having an issue download

    please help

I seem to be having an issue downloading. The file is accessible from my server using either HTP protocol or FTP protocol from my browser. The whole process goes very smoothly until it reaches the end where you click on the download button. Where I get the error : file not found c/f filename
I'm at a loss and cannot understand why I'm getting this error.

Followed the instructions for downloading a product.
Could not find the sort order input slot in the attribute controller screen
so I used this sort update instead. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

I'm using a linux box as a platform and have recheck the setting for downloading,
and again everything works well but the download itself.
    The file is spelled correctly.

error : file not found c/f filename
Can you provide the exact error msg.?

You should also make sure that the path to the file is correct and the file name does not have any blank spaces or special characters. That can cause problems as well.

    What's up with the c/f:???

Normally, when an error occurs due to a missing file there is a path to the file shown, so one can see where it should be.

Sorry, not sure I understand. I have stated that the file can be downloaded via ftp and http so the file is there an accessible, also since the file is in the download directory the path would be "/" the file name, which it is.

Maybe I just need a little bit more help with what you trying to tell me!

I asked what you meant by c/f: because I don't know what it refers to.

Usually when a problem occurs because of a missing file, one can check their Error log within their Hosting account and see what path is being used. It is then easier to figure out the problem.

I understand the file is there is and can be download but for whatever reason, Zen Cart is not finding it. Therefore, you need to see what path Zen Cart is using. That will be shown in the error log.

Also, the path used for virtual downloads uses either the 'downloads' or 'cache' directory, depending upon you have things setup. A download is not or should not be, available from the Root directory. (i.e. the path is not: /filename)

Thank you and will look into the log files..

What I should have told you is that when using http or ftp I did put in the full path to check if it could be downloaded so the server was looking at
    install_dir/pub (I am on a linux box.)
    Many Thanks Again!

I did as you suggested, I went back to my hosting account and enable the log files. Then I went back to the store and attempted to download the product. Of course I got the same error"

Sorry. File not found. "Please contact the webmaster to report this error.
    c/f: various-docs.pdf"

This is exactly what appears on my screen after the download attempt.
I went back to the log files to check to see what the error would be.
Needless to say I was surprised to see that there was no error there.

How many problems can one possibly have, I decided to do a test to check the server log files. I made a request to a fictitious store URL.
I went back and checked the logs in the error was there.
