Default Is it possible for ZenCart to share a database with another application?

I have client who has need for both Zen Cart and Joomla. But has only one database with which to work with. Is it possible to implement both of these in one database?

If not, which I suspect to be the case, is there an alternative to either system that would provide the same functions, while limiting the database need to only one?

    Thanks,
    Roger

Don't know Joomla very well (more of a Drupal guy myself) but Zen Cart shares databases nicely with other applications. I'd recommend using a database prefix (which you can set up when installing Zen Cart) to avoid the risk of table name clashes.

However, in this day and age it's very odd that you client is restricted to one database. Are they using cheap hosting, which may bite them later, when performance is poor or they need another database for testing upgrades or other changes?

They are using ValueWeb, it sounds cheap, but seems a bit pricey for what you get. One database that is. Thanks for your help.

I guess at a pinch they could do future testing by creating a new set of tables in the same database but with a different database prefix. But I wouldn't recommend it. But their clients, so we love 'em, right?
