Is there a way to add either a dropdown or a series of boxes that would allow the person ordering to pick a preferred vendor at checkout? My customers are often looking to deviate from fastest ship time in favor of a preferred supplier.

As in merchandise vendor or preferred shipping company?

In greater detail. The site does invoicing instead of payments. I'd like to provide my business customers a way to select where I direct their order for fulfillment. Currently I forward the email based on speed of shipping to keep it under 3 days.
But I have customers that wish to "express" a desire to go to a different fulfillment provider if possible. This would be little more than a additional piece of information provided at checkout. Has no impact on any functions but does need to be in the admin order placement email.
Same question maybe in more detail:My customers are often looking to deviate from fastest ship time in favor of a preferred supplier.
preffered supplier?? for identical product?
Why would you offer a supplier selection for say a x-box, when the resulting product is identical?

Don't know what to say other than it is a business to business entity and some customers prefer to do biz with a specific supplier regardless of shiptimes. With so many orders coming in it is tough to check a paper list to see what they prefer. I'd rather put the issue to them and avoid more handling for me. I may alter the comments section to refer to supplier but then I lose the comments section. Is it possible to duplicate the comments section maybe and alter the header... That is a poor mans solution but it would patch it
bump any clue as to how to add a dropdown field so they can select a supplier of choice?
