404 error on product descriptions

I have lost my product descriptions, the product listings are ok but when you click on "more information" I get the zencart 404 message and site map.

In administrator mode I can see all of the products but get a server 404 error, what is interesting is it seems that my zen cart isn't creating the urls correctly any more this is the server message.

"The requested URL /store/admin/.php was not found on this server."

note the .php ??? I have checked mysql and the product table and content is still there.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

No blank page - 404 error??

What ver of Zen Cart is this?

Hi Cobra,

Those products don't have any description as yet, if you go to the second or 3rd page you'll see a couple of Bernafon products with descriptions. I can see the descriptions in the database product table so the information isn't lost.

The Zen Cart is 1.3.7.1 and was installed by fantastico, I've been working on the site around a month with no challenges. I even changed back to the old standard template to see if I'd done something in the template overrides but it's doing the same there.

I've even tried a database repair in cpanel but no difference. Its really weird!

Any suggestions welcomed.

I have been doing some further investigations and think I may have deleted a variable that helps to form the url. The variable contents should be 'product'

This is whats happening with the product info urls

The correct url

http://worldhearingaids.com/store/in...&products_id=8

what's being generated

http://worldhearingaids.com/store/in...&products_id=8

Does anyone have an idea of where this variable could be?

I see where you are using includes/templates/wha as your template...are you also adhering to the override system for files you edit?
Start there with the files you have edited and you might use a diff tool like winmerge to find the differences from a stock file.

Why would you be editing things like this out?

I do use the override system, I was trying to remove the word product from the heading of the define pages. I normally pay more attention but I must have deleted the string in in a normal file rather than an override. The problem also occurs in the standard template plus the admin panel.

I'm presently working my way through the directories trying to find the files that I've edited in the last few days.

You don't realise how big Zen Cart is until you have to do something like this.

I'm hoping that someone might know what file the contains the variable definitions that are used construct the urls

I have just restored the site with an early backup to make sure that I've undone the latest changes. The problem is still persisting. Could this be an issue with the database?

I'm wondering if anyone with a good knowledge of how the urls to the product info page are generated on the products listing page. Perhaps I might be pointed in the right direction.

OK I now know that the problem lies within the database. I exported the database and imported the contents into a fresh install. The same problem occurs.

Does anyone know what table I should be looking at ?

Has anyone had problems with the database loosing data like this. It's my first experience in 4 carts but quite disturbing just the same.
