need help setting up a module for members

Hi all,

ok I was looking through this site and searching the forum but couldn't find any contribution at all doing what i need.

Basically what I want to do is give discounts based on a membership a customer could have.

I can give the discount using the group discount module which works perect for this. However I'd have to manually add each customer to the group which is not what I want.

What I want to do now is to create a module or add on which asks each customer on the checkout process on step 1 (right below the shipping details) for a certain number and name. (Each member has as card with an individual number attached to their name like a credit card)

If both match a database table entry to which the admin can add the cards and number combinations. Then their group discount will automatically be set to what ever group is attached to that card number and name.

So I'd need to add this to the check out process page in step 1 and I need to add the option for the admin to add card number and names in the admin panel with the group discounts available.


Now here is my problem I have no idea where to start and create such a module or add on. I'd need someone to point me in the right direction and let me know which files to edit or add etc...

I'd really appreciate any help.

Scott Wilson (SWGUY) built me a module that does something vaguely similar to this.

For the work he did, his fee was extremely reasonable.

Discuss it with him... He'll help you and his fee is justified by his skill!
