As your best answer would be from someone who has already tried & done that, best to try it yourself if no one can provide that type answer. Just make sure to backup your database first. Remember also there may be some movement required regarding which images are where.

That's correct, moving product from catagory to catagory is NOT available in the free version, on;y available in the advanced version

I've just installed easypopulate

How does easypopulate choose what character set to use. I want it to use a certain character set when posting information in. I.e it posts information into my db but unless I switch to utf-8 in my web browser it doesn't display correctly on my website. All my other information is in windows-1251 charset and displays correctly and that is what character set I need it to display correctly in.
I think I'm looking to change a variable somewhere to set this manually rather than look it up but don't know where

Seems that I was not opening up my exported data with the correct character set in Office calc. Once I did that and saved it resolved issue.

However I'm having another issue where I can only seem to user easypopulate for the default product type. I have product type book by moku and easy populate advance - latest version and it doesn't seem to import the data into this product type

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated if you have used easypopulate with other product types other than the standard ones installed.

Does advanced easy populate work for music type products? i am using the free version and it uploads the products as "general type" and i need it to work for "music type" products.

if any of you think about buying easy populate advanced.... think again. Customer support = nothing.
I have an open ticket since oct 5th.
That should be something very very difficult...since it takes such a long time.

Guess again ! The only thing I asked was to resend the zipfile with the easypopulate files in it, since I had a hd crash and lost my zipfile.

Makes you wonder : if they can't even solve that problem ("can you resend my zipfile, this is my ordernumber...") what can they do about a serious problem ?

This is not correct. I do this all the time myself. I can only tell how it is done in EP free, not in advanced.

If you just change the category for a SKU before uploading the file, it will link the existing product to that category instead of moving it. But there is a twist.

Download the complete SKU list with EP. change v_status to "9" on all products and upload and run. Then your shop will be empty.
Change all statuses back to 1, and change the categories as you want. Now upload the file again, and abracadabra, you did it with the free version!
