Table Rate Maximum Weights

I have searched high and low on this forum and couldn't find anyone with an answer so you'll have to excuse me if this is an old thing.

I have duplicated the table rate module so I can have different types of delivery (postal services) and more accurately assign prices to weights.

However it seems that if the weight in the cart is above the maximum specified weight in your table rate - then the table rate still shows as an option and will cost the customer nothing!

I'd like to be able to say that anything above X weight - the table rate shouldn't show as an option. Perhaps even have the table rate 'code' look something like this...

500:2.75,1000:4.50,*:x

The *:x meaning anything else should result in the table rate no longer being applicable.

There will always be the chance some customer will put more weight in the cart than the table rate can cope with and shipping will cost them nothing.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Make * a ridiculously high number and it will handle everything else ...

I don't want it to handle anything else! I want it not to show if the carts weight isn't within the table rate specification!

If I have an infinitely high number then I'd need an infinitely high price and that will just look plain stupid.

I added to the code for v1.3.8, the latest version, the ability to have a percentage as the last value ... be sure to adjust the Maximum Shipping Size depending on how you want this to function as the current Maximum is 50 and Table Rate by weight is different and does not want the boxes broken necessarily in the same manner ...

If you want the Table Rates to only work up to * weight for $XX.XX amount then stop displaying ... then you will have to customize it to terminate the ability to quote beyond the highest amount that you have listed in the table ...

This would then result in the Table Rate saying No Shipping Available for your region, unless there is another method able to take over for those shopping carts with weights over * amount ...

I have exactly the same problem. Are you saying it needs some custom coding then? I would have thought this would be a standard thing. If weight is above x then dont show... How can I do this pleeeeeeeeease!

This is exactly what I have been searching for for ages. Im sure it was the same with Oscommerce. Surely the above is something normal. In UK we post items by royal mail up to 1.5kg. Then we use a courier. I dont want to show 1000$ price for delivery on the royal mail option, I just want it to NOT show after 1.5Kg.

How can this be done??

Are you saying that you want the Table Rate table module to completely disappear when the order weight is over 1.5 or that you want a new rate to show?

Ultimately I want table rate to disappear if the weight is above 1.5Kg but you said in a previous post that its possible to put a % cost for weights above a certain amount.

If thats all thats available I'll have to make do with that but Im not sure how to do it.

I currently have in the table rate:
00.00:2.95,0.300:2.95,0.600:03.95,0.800:04.95,1:5.95,1.5:6.95,1000:75
but my customer hates that.

so I tried:
00.00:2.95,0.300:2.95,0.600:03.95,0.800:04.95,1:5.95,1.5:6.95,1:10% but that does nothing. I was presuming that every kg it would increase the price by 10% but maybe im way off base.

However, ultimately hiding the table rate after 1.5kg would be best as we then use a different courier.
