Newly downloaded files are invalid

Having a problem with any files that I upload...
I have had from the install, a zip file named test.zip in the pub dir.
I set it up as a file to be downloaded and the file works fine.
any file that I add to /pub shows as invalid in attributes
control screen (755 permissions of all files) as you can see the
file come up with zero bytes on product download screen but the
test item can downloaded and opened. (side note: linux) works the
same with or without redirects on.

THIS IS WHAT I SEE AT CHECKOUT THE TEST PRODUCT CAN BE
DOWNLOADED

Oh, and, have you tried it without having your site in down-for-maintenance mode?

No! That means that I have tried to do the download with the server online, and that if you needed to look at the store to help me it is now up (online now).

What version of Zen Cart?
What addons/contributions are installed?
What version of PHP?
Which browsers have you tested on?

And, why are you uploading your downloadable files to the "pub" folder? They're supposed to go in the "download" folder.

It must be the Admin in me, I see a pub folder and
I want to put free files in it! :blush:

Right-click on it in your browser, and choose "Properties".
You should see the path to the image in the dialog window that pops up.
