    Default FedEx Shipping by quantity?

Hi guys. I am almost finished with my store but I have run into a snag. My client owns a Qwik Pack and Ship store. So he gets discounts on shipping items. The Fedex module takes that into account, which is a good thing. However, it does not realize that there are multiple packages with each order. Is there a way to have it realize that there is more than 1 box? I have tried to use the per item shipping module, but it does not take into account that the shipping prices will be different according to the zip code it will be shipped to. Any thoughts or ideas?

So noone has any ideas huh? This is really killing my business because the module keeps lumping all my orders into one package. This limits the amount of product my customer can buy because UPS Ground doesn't ship over a certain poundage.

So for example, a customer orders 10 items that each weigh 16 lbs each. The freaking module just lumps it all together and gives assumes that it's 1 package at 160 lbs. Well, all ground carriers won't accept any individual package that is over 140 lbs (correct me if I'm wrong). However, what I want the module to do is realize that there are 10 different packages so carriers will be able to handle my orders. This is so freaking frustrating. I've just spent a whole workday on this and many hours beyond that. Can anyone point me in the right direction at all?

I swear, if I can't get this to work, I'm gonna just sign up for Nexternal.

Actually that is not how it works at all,

In the Store Configuration you have a Setting that limits that max package weight,

so for your example, if you set the max weight at 40 lbs, and you had a 160lbs order you would have 4 Packages of 40 Lbs

the Shipping module then submits a request to Fedex for 1 package @ 40lbs, then multiples that rate * 4 to get the outputted shipping costs

    Default is 50lbs

Also fedex's limit is 151 lbs, however fedex offers "freight" services under both their express and ground brands, as well as the LTL carrier "Fedex Freight" for shipments over 151lbs

But if I have products of varying weights (for my shop, products range from 1 pound to about 50 pounds), how do I take that into account? If I set my maximum weight to let's say 10 pounds, and someone orders 2 items that are 5 pounds each, the shipping module will not take that there are actually 2 boxes and will just lump it into 1 box. PLEASE HELP. I'm pulling my hair out with this.

Dimensional weights, shipping to multiple addresses, individual box rates are just not available with the stock Zen Cart program at this time. Your best bet is to hire a programmer.
