Fixed Shipping Price per Item?

I was looking around for a module/patch/trick to be able to set a fixed price per product.

Any hints, suggestions?

Use the Per Weight Unit module and set the "shipping" weight of the item to the cost to ship it.

That Per Weight unit trick seems to work fine if I need ALL my items with their own shipping pricing. But what if I want some of the items to have say a USPS pricing per weight?

Ladies & Gentleman,

Any tips, suggestions, etc., for one who has products with fixed shipping prices and products that should use several different shipment modules, like FedEx, USPS, etc.

are you guy susing a different version than 1.3.8 ? That per weight shipping is not working for me...
