Media collection - not accepting mp3 upload

I am using version 1.3.7
I am trying to create a media collection. I've created the name, but when I try to upload the mp3 file (only one actually), it times out but it is not clear why. The file being ULd is mp3 and I have selected the mp3 type.

How large is file in bytes?

The one I'm, trying to upload is 8992 KB. I also have a couple of others, one 14,426 KB and one 16,459 KB. But I have not tried to upload them yet.

Check admin > config > maximum values > Maximum File Upload Size >

I checked it and it was set too small for the file I was trying to upload. But even after I changed it to a a larger value (twice the size of the file), the upload still failed with the following error message:

"ERROR: Unknown data supplied ... operation cancelled"

There is a mp3 in the distribution. ftp this to your local and erase on the server.

Try uploading this file, if this is successful, it would seem there is a file recognition issue

I didn't understand that. Do you mean it is on the server and I should delete it and upload it again?

Look in /media and try uploading this file

Okay, I assume you mean the Hunter. I deleted the old one, extracted the new one from the zipped installation folder and successfully uploaded it to the media folder on the server.

I suspect that it may still be a size issue. But I have set the size to twice the length of the file I am trying to upload and it still isn't working.

I reduced the size of the files substantially and managed to upload the smaller versions, but at the price of losing quality.

This issue is still not solved as I am unable to upload the larger files, even though I have set the maximum file size sufficiently.

Is there anything elser i could try? Is this a bug in the software?
