How do I make my custom template a fluid layout? Am I understanding fluid layout correctly when I think this means that website will design correctly regardless of what the screen resolution is? For example we run our screen quite high at 1280x1024 and when I design my site, I am doing it in 1024x768. At the 1024 it looks good, everything is to the edge of the screen. But when I view it at 1280 my custom header stops while the rest of the page goes to the edge.

It's not very easy to design a total fluid site, since you have banners and images in fixed size, so you may want to keep them in a fixed proportion.
But you can center your site, so it will always appear at the center of the browser window.
