editing categories section

hello,

when I add categories sidebox, the number of products shown in brackets next to category name, plus some of the categories have "->" symbol. how can i remove these two? I only want to see the category name.

Examples:
Chefs Jackets-> (8)
Kitchen Shirts-> (5)
Student Pack (1)

Peek in the Admin of your shop at the Configuration ... Layout Settings ... there are all kinds of settings in there for the display and many for the Catgegories sidebox ...

Also peek in the settings for the Configuration ... My Store ...

In particular the Counts:

Show Category Counts
Count recursively how many products are in each category

thanks a lot! there are so many very useful properties hidden somewhere out there:)

one more question please;
when i change the template, it shows categories in a different way (like little boxes for each category). however 2 or 3 categories have longer names, so they are shown in 2 rows but since the category box is designed for only one, 2nd row doesnt appear completely. how can i fix this?
