Adding new Field in admin for products

This question might have been asked before but please excuse me if i am repeating it.I am very new to zen cart and slowly getting a hang of it.
My question basically was with regard to adding new product in admin.
My client has a book store and wants to have some fields for product like the writer and publisher name when he is adding the product in the ADMIN PANEL
i am able to add the custom attributes but that only shows up on the front store.
is there a way weather through hard coding or through interface to add the custome fields in the admin?

i looked that up and there are only Auction Product Type , dgReviews and Value GV-Mod, i search for book mod nothing came either
but if i want to add the field manually how would i do that?

Sorry, the Product Type Book mod is not in Downloads. See the support thread for it. The original author, moku, abandoned it and it has been taken over by hareslade, who has recently released a new version for the latest (1.3.8a) version of Zen Cart.

I have worked with drupal and joomla and slowly making my ways through zen cart now. My question is basically how i can add certain fields in product that do not exist. in drupal a module called CCK allows you to add custom field in your interface such as for example adding date for your product or field such as color choice in your admin or ISBN or extra fields for images. If i want to be able to add fields that do not exist in admin for product and not on front page, how would go about to add them. i dont wanna add module , if i can make modification by coding i would be more than happy because there will be products that still not necessarily contain the fields i need. any help on that would be great

Given the complexity of Product Type Book, I think you would have to do an immense amount of reinventing the wheel to get a good book display. The mod has provision for adding some custom fields built into it (read the last few pages of the support thread).

A few people have posted about adding new fields; just avoid TheOracle's mod, as it is buggy and not supported.

so other than TheOracle is there like a tutorial as how i can do that,
I view the thread for book type and the link to download it is not working, and there are like 37 pages of post from diff users, i like to actually contribute to that if possible and i have solid background of programming in 3 different web programming , php , asp.net and jsp , as i said i dont mind it to go through coding as long as there are some guide lines or samples i can view and go from there,
if i can get the download link even to that book type , it would be great as i could not find on the thread you posted it.

Also, there was a post by someone on one of TheOracle's mod threads giving a process for manually creating a custom product field. I believe it was near the end of the thread. That might help you - someone else posted a reply that the process worked well.

Additionally, if you look at the built-in product_music product type, you'll see how additional fields can be added and used in various places/ways, not only from database storage but also to templating for storefront and admin etc.

I am actually now looking into the tutorials and samples and slowly getting the hang of his. actually i might be able to make a new module for book type. i ll try to see what i can get cracking at.
