Twice in the last 12 hours I have had to restart mysql. To give a little history my site was on a vps. Search were running very slow. So I upgrade from1.3.01 to 1.3.8a and moved to a dedicated server. It's running PHP5.2.5 and mysql 5.0.45. Searches have been much faster but the mysql froze twice in the last 12 hr. We are averaging 3500 unique visitors a day with about 37,000 hits. We have 28,000 registered customers. I have been running the database optimizer from admin/my store every couple days. My host tech people have looked at the problem and had the following to say.
"While its normal for MySQL to hang and require a restart on occasion, twice in the last 12 hours is a little odd. I don't see any errors reported in the MySQL error log, but I do see some large innodb table files in the Mysql directory. Do you use innodb for a storage engine in any of your tables? With the size of this file growing and the crashing of MySQL, this indicates that one of your database tables may be corrupted and executing longer queries than normal. I've enabled the slow query log as well as the crash logs on your server, so if this happens again we may be able to determine which table caused the problem."
Does anyone have any suggestions to help. The url is www.jonasbrothersmerch.com
