How to implement Group Discounts?

I'm sure that I'm unable to see the forest for the trees here but...

I've finally found the Group Discounts mod in admin/modules/order total. Once installed how do I add groups? How can I implement the discount percentages?

And just a couple other questions, as well: Will the discounted prices be visible in the shopping cart as the customer shops or just at checkout? What happens when the customer purchases sale items? What if they attempt to purchase a gift certificate?

Sorry to be such a pain - It's just that I'm anxious to setup a Rewards-type program and am having a hard time getting my head around the whole thing.

From admin:
Click on "Customers" then "Group Pricing"
setup your group name and give it a discount % and enter it without the percentage sign.

To answer your other questions:

They wont see the discount until they are into the checkout process. I think the second step they will see it. From what I can tell it will discount everything in the store by the amount you set. That includes gift certificates and sale items.

I'm just converting my store from osc to zen cart so I'm not sure if there is a mod that will do what you like for zen. I have one on my store with OSC that does that, but I think u will find overall, zen cart is a much better platform to build your store from. Just a pain to learn when you are used to osc.
