    Default No Tax Calculation...

I've just noticed that both of the price fields (net and gross) for all my products have the same price!

When trying to enter a new price, for example '10', into the net field it simply copies the same value into the gross field and applies no tax whatsoever!

This problem is only occuring in the admin. When performing a test order Zen Cart was able to display the correct tax value. This leads me to believe that my tax and currency settings are correct.

    Anyone have any bright ideas?

These are both set to true. It's the first thing I checked.

I remember recently setting up a tax rate for the European Union, but I don't see how this could cause the tax not to be calculated on my product pages in the admin - and only calculated on my website (catalog side).

Another thing I've noticed is that when setting up specials I have to enter the net value. This has always been the case for me. Either this is a related issue or just standard Zen Cart behaviour.

    This is normal.
The tax calc that happens interactively during product editing is *display only*, and is *only* based on tax rules which would apply if the shopper was using the same address as your store's default zone.

It's only intended as a guide for folks who prefer to enter tax-included pricing so that the pre-tax value can be stored in the database. This feature may actually be removed due to the confusion it causes.

Just ignore it for now. Always base your product pricing on the net price, because that's what's stored in the database.

Thanks for clearing this up DrByte.

I'm not sure what I changed, but it was working (allowing me to enter gross or net prices and then calculating the other automatically). SO I'm not sure what I changed to cause this functionality to stop.

Either way it's fine. I prefer to work with net prices anyway.

As you mentioned it would be good to remove this feature to avoid any confusion.

    Thanks again. :)
