Admin Activity log

I have this warning

WARNING: The Admin Activity Log table has records over 2 months old and should be cleaned ... 11-24-2007

When I go to store manager it says this

Empty Admin Activity Log table from the database
WARNING: Be sure to backup your database before running this update!
The Admin Activity Log is a tracking method that records activity in the Admin. Due to its nature it can become very large, very fast and does need to be cleaned out from time to time.
Warnings are given at 50,000 records or 60 days, which ever happens first.

I am worried that if I clear it it will mess up my site. I think I have set it up all fine but how do I back up my data-base? I want to ensure that I wont loose anything or it wont change.

Can someone re-assure me and tell me what I need to do to check all is ok?

Doing this just empties a table on your database... It won't harm anything.

To do a backup - If you have cpanel, you can do in and click the phpmyadmin link to get ot your database and use the export link to download/backup your database.

not sure what you mean by cpanel??

Login to your host site... You should have access to your database, be it through cpanel or some other type of panel.
